SAGE Design-Build of Upper Macungie Township is building a testing facility in Bethlehem for the engineered pump division of defense contractor Curtiss-Wright Corp.
The project is an extension of Curtiss-Wright’s existing manufacturing facility, which opened in 2015 in the Lehigh Valley Industrial Park VII off Route 412, said Joe Landrigan, president of SAGE Design-Build.
Landrigan said he expects to complete the 5,000-square-foot addition in the spring.
Todd Schurra, general manager of Curtiss-Wright, said the project will support the company’s naval defense business. He declined to disclose the estimated construction cost.
The company, based in North Carolina, provides naval, aerospace and ground defense systems for the U.S. and other countries.
Curtiss Wright’s existing facility is a 180,000-square-foot building used for research, development and heavy manufacturing. It was built by J.G. Petrucci Co.
