SAGE was engaged early for Curtiss-Wright’s $30+ million, 150,000-square-foot “Nautilus” project in Charleston, SC, relocating an older facility from New York. The new plant features precast wall panels, warehousing, and a major manufacturing area testing U.S. Navy turbines. A local developer leased the building to Curtiss-Wright, and SAGE tackled unique challenges, including 15-foot-deep press footings with ice-cooled concrete.

Due to the success of this first project, SAGE was hired early on in another major project for Curtiss-Wright in Charleston, SC. This project, known as “Nautilus” was a $30+ Million project, approximately 150,000 SF that was a relocation of an antiquated facility in New York state to a newly constructed facility in South Carolina. The project consisted of precast wall panels, a small warehousing operation, and a major manufacturing facility that tests turbines for the US Navy’s fleet. Most notable on this project was the installation of a large press that included footings that were 15’ deep and had to be placed in multiple sections using ice in lieu of water for quality control of the concrete strength. The project also included a local developer that would own and lease the facility to Curtiss-Wright to support the long term strategy of the company.

"In my entire career, I have only encountered a handful of people who I respect this much. He definitely has his client’s best interest at heart and he takes the time to really understand you, your business and your needs. You’d be hard pressed to find another professional like Joe."
